1. The service
Cough Counter is a manual cough counter with a leaderboard and a social cough limit. You tap when you cough. It is a game, not a medical device.
2. Not medical advice
The ceiling of 63 coughs comes from a research estimate (Holt & Smith, 2023). It does not diagnose disease and does not replace a doctor. Seek help if your cough worries you.
3. Account
You must be 16. The username is public if the leaderboard is on. Do not impersonate others or abuse the API.
4. Honest counts
The leaderboard is for fun. We rate-limit taps, but we cannot prove you actually coughed. Be honest — or be honest about lying.
5. Liability
The service is provided as is. We are not liable for embarrassing coughs on the bus, failed exams, or statistical deviance.
